Episode 29 - A Night At The Murder Inn

Just a few goats

Wow, this weekend was just insane.  And what's more insane is that I managed to record on Monday! Obviously it's now Tuesday, but I'm just excited to get his episode in the can since as each day passes, small details start to blur and fade away. Sit back, grab a drink to participate in the "Podcaster Drinking Game" started by the oh so lovely Uncreative Crafter and listen to a tale of adventure!

Episode 25 - These Guys are Scary

We survived our first week of school! It was an odd week, but finally dusted off the sewing machine! Also did a little knitting, a little spinning and a LOT of DIY!

Episode 14 - I Look Like A Mad Scientist

First 2 ply on the drop spindle hanging to dry

Hello!

Boy I sure like to talk your ears off! Hopefully I shared enough stuff to keep your interest - I really didn't think I'd go for an hour! Bit of a blah week for me, but the crafting always lifts my spirits!

Anywho! Knitting WIPs, Sewing WIPs and FOs, and some beginner spinning! I am adoring spinning, I even updated the podcast intro to reflect the new addition!  Hopefully someday Crochet will be added as well. Stay tuned for next week crocheters, I am planning to attempt something this week and hopefully it will be a success amongst my many failures.

Lastly, a fun present and a sneak peek of what I ordered! Also, a crazy purple hair update.

Episode 13 - Those Evil YO's and a Simple Braided I Cord Headband

Roving I hand dyed.  Definitely experimental and even though it looks pretty it was a partial failure!

Here's this weeks episode!!! See my braided icord headband pattern below! It's a no brainer, but I made it up on the fly and it turned out super cute!

"Simple Braided I Cord Headband"

Supplies:

Worsted weight yarn: I used just a standard Bernat in white
DPNs: Whatever size needed for your yarn.  I used Size 7.
Notions: finishing needle for weaving in the ends.

CO 3 stitches
I-cord for approx 4 inches or however long you would like your tie to be
Kfb into each stitch (6 stitches).
Kfb into each stitch (12 stitches).

Take 2 stitches onto your needles - move the rest to a stitch holder
I-cord for the needed length to wrap around your head - remember it will stretch a bit so don't make too long!

At the end, put those two stitches onto a new stitch holder.  Try to avoid twisting the stitches.

Repeat for each set of 2 stitches.  You will have a total of 6 I-cords.

My I-cord spaghetti monster
When all the I-cords are completed to the needed size, carefully lay them all out on a flat surface.  Make sure they are all laying flat and untwisted.  Place something heavy on top of the first I-cord used for the tie - or safety pin it down to keep it still.

Using two I-cords per section, make a standard braid.

Recombine all the live stitches onto your needle.

K2Tog until end of row (6 stitches)
K2Tog until end of row (3 stitches)

I-cord 3 stitches until it matches the length of the first tie.

Weave in allllllll those lovely loose ends.

Episode 12 - Millie and the MOFO

Boy oh boy, what a week....oh wait, it's only Tuesday.  Well shoot, what a Monday.  I got in a minor car accident yesterday morning and of course it's thrown me way off and just been such a downer. Everyone is okay, kids were NOT in the car thankfully.  Car is in the shop for 1-2 weeks and I'm in a rental.

womp womp

But onward we go. This week's episode is the longest one yet - and probably the longest one it will ever be (but who really knows).  A whopping 1:35ish...sheesh! With lots of interruptions to boot (Sorry!).  That's what I get for recording on a Tuesday with reckless kiddos.

TONS of stash enhancement this week! Again something that will probably never come about again. I mean, I hit the motherload this week for sure! I had a ton of fun at the local World Wide Knit in Public event that was put on by another local knit group.  Came home with some goodies from there of course.  Also my $25 shopping spree at Joann - I know crazy huh?

The video is currently uploading and is taking forever, but I figured I would at least get this going and attempt to do the show notes as well.  For now I am just posting the link to my Youtube page. Once the video is up, I will come back and embed it as usual. But just in case any night owls are poking around and check it out, It will be here for ya!
